The changes below are effective from 30 April 2010 for all AAMET qualified Trainers and Trainer of Trainers

You may need to familiarise yourself with the new rules and regulations and where you can find materials etc.  What is important is that you keep your students informed of what's required of them and that you support them to achieve those requirements.  Being an AAMET Trainer requires commitment and dedication - otherwise you are in danger of losing your AAMET Trainer status.   If your students are worried about publishing their personal details, this is not a problem but they will need their Unique Membership Number to validate their membership.  There are a host of FAQs on the website to help them decide. Even if they have Level 1 they can now join AAMET as a student for  the equivalent of only £10.  As a Trainer you MUST send names, email addresses and status of all your students to the Membership Secretary at listings@aamet.org
1. First you need to register as a Trainer on the website www.aamet.org.
2. Once registered you will be given access to privileged areas of the website depending on whether you're a qualified Trainer or Trainer of Trainers.
3. You must read  the Guidelines and Regulations for Trainers, Certificate Seals, Logos, Certificates, Training Syllabuses, CPD & Mentoring Guidelines etc that can be found within the Trainers Area of the website and downloaded.
4.  You must  follow the core Syllabus for Levels 1-3.  You can add other topics that you see fit but you must follow the core syllabus - otherwise it may lead to loss of Trainer status.
5.  There have been changes to CPD & Mentoring requirements.  Please also read these carefully and notify your students of the new changes.

6. Please remove any old weblinks to AAMET and any old AAMET logos (purple ones).  This would be appreciated as this only causes confusion to members of the public and creates more enquiries for the AAMET!
7. Please continue to notify listings@aamet.org of any new Students from Level 1 upwards  - otherwise it involves the Membership Secretary having to phone the Trainer to endorse appications.  The AAMET wants to encourage students at Level 1 to be part of AAMET's community and to benefit from the knowledge and experience of Practitioners and Trainers.

8.  Training Requirements.  As a reminder.........
Note:  At the end of each training course every student is given an Attendance Only Certificate (available to download if you wish from the website) stating that the student has received X Nos of hours training at X professions require the hours and not days so please ensure hours are shown.

Hours:  The suggested minimum of hours for Level 1 is 7hrs and 14hrs for Level 2 = 24hrs and the same for Level 3.  If Level 1 & 2 are run together, the min no of hrs should be 21.  The  Attendance Only certificate is upgraded to Practitioner level only after they've complied with the criteria outlined within Level 1-3 below.
Remember that some students will not want to proceed to Practitioner Level 2 or 3 which is OK.  In that case, they do not require to submit the Case Studies or Exam.  If you have notified the AAMET of all your student's, including those who have not progressed, the AAMET can have a source of reference if required at a later date.

Level 1 Training:
Only issue the AAMET Attendance Certificate from the website or if issuing your own certificate, please use the wording " AAMET EFT Attendance Certificate".

Level 2 Training:

After Level 2 the Trainer will send out a sample Case Study and the Multiple Choice exam by email (both available from the website).  The Trainer will also indicate how many Case Studies are required which should be at least the min. No as set by the AAMET but not less. Case Studies should include a min No of sessions required.   Only after the student has submitted the min no of Case Studies and they have passed the Multiple Choice Exam can the Trainer issue the Practitioner Certificate.  When the Practitioner Certificate is awarded the Trainer is effectively saying that person is fit to practice on others so Trainers must not feel obliged  to award a certificate if they're not confidence in their student's ability.  It's best to invite them to retrain with the Trainer or someone else.  Students may have 3 attempts at the multiple choice paper and we would expect Trainers to support and provide feedback to their students to achieve Practitioner status.  Students then have 12 months from the date on the certificate to obtain 30hrs CPD and 12hrs mentoring.  It is the TRAINERS responsibility to ensure that their students' have acquired the relevant CPD and mentoring hours.  If you as a Trainer can't provide this then you should be pointing them towards a Mentor who can offer them support.  If your students require any documents in another language, please contact Philip at websupport@aamet.org
Level 3 Training:  As for Level 2 but the No of Case Studies has to increase and no exam is set.  You may wish to include your own assessment criteria however.

Training should not be onerous for the student - neither should it be too easy. When assessing Practitioner status, you must ensure that the student is competent to work on others  and that they know they should not go beyond their competence.
